Focused on Quality

Focused on our Past

Welcome to The School for Young Children’s Web site! The School’s rich history began in 1936 when it first opened as a laboratory school for the University of Saint Joseph. We hope that the information contained within the site will be a helpful resource.

The School for Young Children provides up to two years of a high quality preschool experience for young children prior to their age of kindergarten eligibility as defined by the State of Connecticut. The School serves children and families in West Hartford and other neighboring communities. The School also functions as an exemplary demonstration teaching model for University of Saint Joseph students and other early childhood educators.

Since 1985, The School has been accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
